1. Today, the Church celebrates the Third Sunday in Ordinary Time, observed in our Archdiocese as Word of God Sunday. The Gospel, where Jesus reads from the scroll of the prophet Isaiah, invites us to understand and actively participate in His public ministry—a ministry that proclaims, heals, restores, and liberates. May the Word of God guide us toward His Kingdom.
On this Republic Day, we also pray for our beloved country, that its constitutional values may always be respected and upheld.
The national flag will be hoisted after the 7 am mass. We also celebrate this Sunday as the word of God Sunday. The Bible will be enthroned at the 8:30 am mass. After the 10 am mass we will be having a bible quiz on the 4 Gospels. Each Zone needs to put up a team of 3 members. Please come and cheer your team
We are happy to announce the winners of the Crib competition. The first place goes to Mr. Lancelot D'souza from Mazagaon Towers, the second place goes to Mr. Vinod Rodrigues, also from Mazagaon Towers; and the 3rd place goes jointly to Flavian Dias (Bay view) and Daisy Santhumayor Belvedere Road. The prizes will be given on the 16th of February at the Jubilee mass of our parish.
4. Sunday, 2nd February is the feast of the Presentation. The Presentation of the Lord is also known as Candlemas day, since the blessing and procession of candles is a part of the liturgy. Christ is the light of the nations, the ‘light of the world,’ as well as, in the words of Simeon, ‘the light to enlighten the Gentiles,’ hence the blessing of candles is on this day. The blessing of Candles will be at the 7 am mass and will begin at the church entrance. It is a common practice for the faithful take the candles home and light them when they need Christ’ intervention such as in times of illness or difficulties. Please note this mass will be in English. The Konkani mass will be celebrated on the 16th of February at 7 am
5. 2nd February is also the day of the religious, and we remember our sister of Charity of Nazareth in our prayers.
6. Monday, 3rd February, is the feast of St. Blaise and the Blessings of the Throats. The blessing of throats will be after the 7 am and 7 pm masses.
